Story #1

Story:

Lillian the Local Librarian and the Chocolate Chip Cookies
A story about Sharing
Lillian looks just like a lot of the animals in the library, but you can always she’s near in two ways. The first is she always smells like lavender. The second is that she always has a bag full of chocolate chip cookies.

Today was Monday. As usual, she came to work with a big bag of cookies. All day, as the animals read, she sat, eating cookies.

After awhile, a little kitten got up from her seat and walked up to the desk. “Excuse me.” The kitten spoke quietly. “Yes?” Lillian replied, looking down from her seat upon the desk.

“Sorry to bother you, Mrs. Lillian, but may I have a cookie?” All the other animals turned and watched. Lillian thought for a moment. “No.” She replied and continued to eat her cookie.

The kitten walked away sadly and the other animals slowly began to leave the library. Lillian stared after them. When she saw one little monkey sitting at the table, she asked why the others left.

“They left because you were being selfish. If you had shared, they would have stayed. Real friends share with each other.” Then the little monkey left.

Lillian felt bad for being mean to her friends, but she didn’t know how to make it up to them. Then she had and idea.

The next day, Lillian got up bright and early to make a big batch of cookies. When she got to the library, all the animals got up to leave. “No!” Lillian cried. “I brought enough to share!”

Her friends stopped and smiled. They all sat down and had some delicious cookies with a glass of milk. Her friends were glad Lillian decided to share, and Lillian was glad too.
